Who is the Everyday Athlete?
It may be you... They can be defined by the two words in that title. Everyday - Athlete The defining characteristic is that they are someone who relishes physical activity and performance, but has significant stresses outside of their training in their life. They're not a full time athlete with their nutrition outsources, recovery sessions scheduled, physio on hand and limited responsibilities outside of training and recovering. Instead, the Everyday Athlete is someone who is pushing themselves physically alongside the other big responsibilities in their life. A career or business. A partner. A family young and old. A busy social life. All things that have to be done and eat into the same energy and recovery demand that their training and performance draws from. The Everyday An "ordinary" person who wants to achieve extraordinary things. The athlete who wants to move daily as they know it makes them perform better in all areas of their life. Because they want to excel as an athlete, but also as a professional, partner, parent and person. The person who values the consistency in performance in all areas that consistency in actions brings. The person who knows this isn't just a 6/8/12 week challenge, but a daily lifestyle that helps them continually grow. The Athlete The Everyday Athlete values strength, endurance, movement and resilience. They want to be the well rounded athlete that can turn their hand to any challenge and perform. They desire a concurrent or hybrid approach to their training that improves their strength, conditioning, and most important the freedom to express their fitness in a variety of ways. They want to armour their body against all kinds of physical stress. They want to build muscle which they can use to express and absorb force, and wear as a obvious mark of their commitment to movement. They need a heart and lungs that are ready to feed their muscle and carry them as far as they need to go. And they want to feel fantastic and free while moving. The Lifestyle The Everyday Athlete know that all of this is the product of a lifestyle, not a shot term program. It's a commitment to everyday athleticism. A commitment to doing what is valuable and necessary, and giving things their full attention. And valuing efficiency, direction and accuracy. The Everyday Athlete loves having a full and fulfilling lifestyle, but this comes with challenges. They can't afford to waste time and effort on things that don't move the needle forwards. Which is why they need a clear, direct, progressive and efficient training program. The Plan A program that delivers more with less. Leaving them more time and energy to utilise the benefits in their broader life. This is what the Everyday Athlete demands. And the Everyday Athlete is who I best serve. 15 years in the industry. 10 years as a strength and conditioning coach. 8 working very specifically with Everyday Athletes.
